LBC Scintillation Crystals
LBC - Lanthanum BromoChloride, doped with Cerium is a newly released generation of inorganic scintillator based gamma radiation detectors. LBC scintillators crystals ave fast light output decay times provide excellent energy resolution performance.

LBC scintillator crystals have:
  • Fast decay times - 35nsec
  • High light outputs - 70,000 Photons/MeV
  • The capability to achieve excellent Energy Resolution - 3%@662keV
  • Optical outputs with good linearity with temperature
  • The capacity to deal with high count rates
  • Excellent radiation hardness

LBC scintillator crystals - issues to be aware of:
  • Hygroscopic and therefor require encapsulation

LBC scintillator crystals are useful for applications such as:
  • Security - cargo inspection
  • Medical - SPECT
  • Industrial - Well logging
  • Nuclear and high energy physics - specialist applications
